Library News for October 8, 2014

We are seeking families of children who will start Kindergarten in August 2015 to participate in a new program, Kindergarten Ready. Families will meet Monday evenings for six weeks starting November 10. Children will learn basic skills and concepts for which educators will be screening. We’ll offer a light meal at 5:30 and the program starts at 6:00 pm. Space is limited to 10 families to sign up today by calling 237-3861.

The library is offering an additional digital book collection. One Click Digital offers many popular audio books that are always available.  Check out our website at www.allencountylibrary.com and click on the “Digital Books” tab. You’ll never have to wait to download the books you check out from One Click Digital. Don’t forget that you have access to 49 of the most popular magazines online with your Allen County Public Library card. Click on the “Digital Magazines” tab, set up an account with your library card (never enter your credit card number) and start downloading your favorite magazines today.

We offer homework help through a new service called “Tutor.com.” Library patrons have access to on-demand, one-to-one Academic and Career Tutoring from 4:00 pm – 11:00 am, seven days per week. All you need is a library card.  Tutor.com covers 25+ subject areas, including AP/IB, Spanish language support and Test-Prep. The review from an Allen County student said, “I loved how my tutor was very patient with me and was friendly. Most of the time you can’t find a way to be friendly on a chat, but my tutor did. I received the help I sought out to get and I feel confident that if I see a similar question I will know how to do it.  This is the best webstie I have ever use for academic purposes.” If you or someone you know needs free tutoring services, check us out at www. allencountylibrary.com and click on “Tutor.com.”
