We will begin working on the letters of the alphabet, as well as other specific strategies to help ready your child for the classroom.  This week we will talk about the letter “S”!  “S” is for snow, sand, stick, and salt.  What other words do you know that begin with the letter “s”?

Children will be asked to participate by raising their hands to write letters on the board, making the sound for the letter “S”, and identifying uppercase letters from lowercase letters.

We will be reading Snail Crossing by Corey Tabor as well as Escargot by Dashka Slater.

S is for snail!  Snails are sssllloooowwww creatures that have a lot to do like hide in damp dark places, check out your flowers, planters, and logs, and eat yummy green vegetation.  Snails are mostly nocturnal creatures, meaning they sleep during the day and do most of their activities at night.

The craft for the day will celebrate the sweet snail.  Children will have a take-home activity at the conclusion of the program.
