The library is grateful to be able to be in the center of the community of Scottsville, Kentucky.  Every year, downtown businesses support the library and the children of Allen County by handing out candy and other treats as we walk the square during the Youth Halloween Parade.  This parade if for children 6 years and younger.

This year’s parade will be Friday, October 25th @ 10AM.  We will meet at the library, and gather all of the children dressed in their Halloween costumes on the front porch of the library for a picture in the Citizen-Times Newspaper.

We begin at the library and will make our way towards the House of Style Salon, Jimmy’s Furniture, and Orthopedic Plus.  With the help of the Scottsville Police Department, we will safely cross the street to Stovall’s Prescription Shop.  From there we will head up to the Chamber of Commerce, Valerie Armfield’s Quilt Shop, and around to 270.  We will stop by and see Betty at her Florist shop, and around to Lindsey Wilson College.  From there we walk past the Lyric and down to World Finance.  We always stop and see the ladies and gents at the UK Extension Office.  Hobdy’s Florist usually has a basket of candy waiting for us and then we walk down to the Pawn Shop, Sweet Treats, and Scottsville Methodist Church.  Again, with the help of the SPD, we will safely cross the street to Scottsville Baptist Church and begin our upward trek to Domino’s, US Bank. and Beautiful YOU.  We will visit the Farmacy, Child Support Office, and the Thrift Store.  We also visit McKinney, and cross the street to visit Chuck Bennett and his friends at Southern Finance.  We will begin our descent travelling to the Health Department, TW Crow & Son, and then visit Bill at the Allen County Florist.  We will turn around here, head back up the square to Linda’s Furniture, the Antique Mall, Stephanie Hood and Company, and Dollar General Store.  Our last leg of the parade is the old court house offices & Harris & Goin Law Office.  Our final stop is across the street to the Allen County Judicial Center.  Ms. Amanda and her goblins will say farewell to all of our attendees and their caregivers.  Books will be at the library to giveaway, so don’t forget to stop by and pick up a book for your permanent collection.

The stroll is long, so for itty bitty kiddos, we would recommend using a stroller.  Dress accordingly.  And bring your candy bag or bucket.  We always have a wonderful time.  We can’t wait to share this special day with you.
