Allen County Public Library News – February 8, 2023

 

The library building is open to the public on Monday through Thursday, 9:00 am – 7:00 pm, and Friday and Saturday from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm.

Toddlers are invited to Toddler Time on Wednesdays at 10:00 am. Parents/guardians may choose from three Pre-K Story Hours for their preschool-age child. We’ll offer the same program on Tuesday and  Thursday at 10:00 am and on Wednesdays at 1:00 pm. Call 270-237-3861 to reserve your child’s place. On Tuesday at 1:00 pm, Home-School children ages 5-12 are invited to enrichment programs. On Thursdays at 2:00 pm, Home-School teens are invited to enrichment programs. We hope you’ll make visiting the library a part of your weekly routine.

If you are interested in knitting or crocheting, Strings and Things is offered every Wednesday from 2:30 – 3:30 pm.

Our book clubs meet on the third Tuesday of each month. On Tuesday, February 21, Books on the Square meets at 1:00 pm, and they are reading Black Flower by Young-Ha Kim. A Mystery at the Library meets at 5:00 pm, and they’re reading Home Before Dark by Riley Sager. If you are interested in joining the discussion, stop by the circulation desk and pick up a copy of the book.

Lego My Library meets on the third Saturday of each month. On Saturday, February 18, at 11:00 am, any child under the age of eighteen is invited to come to show off master-building skills. This month’s Lego Challenge is a Vertical Brick Challenge. What will you build? A rock climbing wall, lego art, or stairs to nowhere?

Andrews, More Than Meets the Eye by Iris Johansen and Roy Johansen, Unnatural History by Jonathan Kellerman, Fortress of Snow by Melanie Dickerson, A Fire Endless by Rebecca Ross, Queen of Myth and Monsters by Scarlett St. Clair, and How to Sell a Haunted House by Grady Hendrix.

New books on the adult non-fiction shelf include: Taunton’s Tiling Complete by Robin Nicholas & Michael Schweit, Pray First by Chris Hodges, Courage Under Fire: Under Siege and Outnumbered 58 to 1 on January 6 by Steven A. Sund, Love and Justice: A Story of Triumph on Two Different Courts by Myra Moore Irons and Jonathan Irons, and Chicken Soup for the Soul: Lessons Learned from My Dog by Amy Newmark.

To get a free library card, call 270-237-3861 or stop by the library with a photo I.D. and a recently postmarked piece of mail. Then you’ll be able to check out or download library materials. Also, if there’s a particular book, movie, or music artist you would like added to the collection, please let us know. We’ll do our best to fulfill your requests.
