Library News for August 6

Congratulations to Joanne Meador, who is retiring after thirty-three years of service at the Allen County Public Library. We’ll miss her and wish her the very best as she transitions from being a librarian to a library patron.  We hope she enjoys retirement doing anything and everything that she’s been dreaming.

Congratulations to the Primary Center Kids. Mr. Wilson will have to spend a day on the roof because 309 students signed up for the Buggy Book Club. Thank you to Mr. Wilson for encouraging students to read during summer vacation. Parents deserve a thank you too for getting their kids to the library this summer. We’ll give Mr. Wilson the honor of drawing the names of the winners of the five free gas gift cards.  Read The Library News next week to see who won.  Thank you to The Friends of the Library for providing funds to purchase the gas gift cards.

The library now offers homework help through a new service called “Tutor.com.” Library patrons have access to on-demand, one-to-one Academic and Career Tutoring from 4:00 pm – 11:00 am, seven days per week. All you need is a library card.  Tutor.com covers 25+ subject areas, including AP/IB, Spanish language support and Test-Prep. A big thank you to The Friends of the Library for making this service available.

The library has signed up for an additional digital book collection. One Click Digital offers many popular audio books that are always available.  Check out our website at www.allencountylibrary.com and click on the “Digital Books” tab.
