Allen County Public Library News – March 20, 2024

The library building is open to the public on Monday through Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. – to 7:00 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. – to 4:00 p.m.

The next solar eclipse will occur on April 8, 2024. The library is giving away free solar eclipse glasses at the circulation desk. Families may request up to four pairs of glasses for free.

Everyone is invited to a special solar eclipse program on Friday, April 5th,  at 1:00 PM at the Dugas Community Park Pavillion. Jason Lindsey, aka “Mr. Science.” Hooked on Science, a nationally recognized STEM educator, science multimedia journalist, and author, will make this an entertaining learning experience.

Toddlers are invited to Toddler Time on Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m. Parents/guardians may choose from two Pre-K Story Hours for their preschool-age child. We’ll offer the same program on Tuesday and Thursday at 10:00 a.m. Call 270-237-3861 to reserve your child’s place or click on the events tab @ www.allencountylibrary.com. On Tuesday at 1:00 p.m., Home-School children ages 5-12 are invited to enrichment programs. The Inbetweens, students ages 10-12, meet on Mondays at 3:30 p.m.  We hope you’ll make visiting the library with your children a part of your weekly routine.

Older children will enjoy The Bluest Sky by Christina Diaz Gonzalez, Alterations: A Graphic Novel by Ray XU, Bravelands: Breakers of the Code by Erin Hunter, Hummingbird Season by Stephanie V.W. Lucianovic, Where Is Jerusalem? by Ellen Morgan, Maybe It’s a Sign by E.L. Shen, and Captain Underpants and the Attack of the Talking Toilets by Dav Pilkey.

New large-print books for adults include: The Guest by B.A. Paris, The New Couple in 5 B by Lisa Unger, Every Single Secret by Christina Dodd, Rock Bottom by Fern Michaels, The Summer Book Club by Susan Mallery, Agape After All by Katherine Robles, Chasing the Horizon by Mary Connealy, Up From Dust by Heather Kaufman, Hopefully Ever After by Beth Wiseman, A Love Discovered by Tracie Peterson, Circle of Vengeance by Ramona Richards, and Kingdom of Love by Tracie Peterson.

To get a free library card, call 270-237-3861 or stop by the library with a photo I.D. and recently postmarked mail. Then, you’ll be able to check out or download library materials. Also, please let us know if there’s a particular book, movie, or music artist you would like added to the collection. We’ll do our best to fulfill your requests.
