Allen County Public Library News – December 31, 2026

The library will close at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 31, New Year’s Eve, and remain closed on Thursday, January 1, 2026, for New Year’s Day. Stop by early to stock up on books, movies, and music for the holiday. The library will reopen on Friday, January 2, 2026, at 9 a.m.

Unless it’s a holiday, the library is open to the public Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Our digital library never closes. You can download free e-books, audiobooks, and television shows if you have an active library card. Download the Libby and Hoopla apps to access our digital materials. There are thousands of items to choose from.

Registration is open for our Winter Reading Program. Adults, teens, and kids can register at the library or on our website, www.allencountylibrary.com, to get a participation log to complete. Participants will include books read, programs attended, and activities participated in at the library. Once reading/activity logs are complete, participants will receive a prize and be entered for a grand prize drawing at the end of February. Check our website for upcoming events.

The library offers over six hundred free online courses in the following areas of study: accounting, alternative medicine, crafts & hobbies, business, career training, computer training, entrepreneurship, finance, health & medicine, homeschooling, language arts, law/legal/criminal, office skills, parenting & family, personal development, psychology, science, self-help, special education, spiritual studies, teacher resources, test preparation and writing skills. New books for young adults this week include: Cat + Crazy Volume 2 by Wataru Nadatani, The House Saphir by Melissa Meyer, Mashle: Magic and Muscles, Vol. 11: Mash Burnedead and The God of Water by Hajimi Komoto, Mashle: Magic and Muscles, Vol. 12 by Hajimi Komoto, Star Wars: The Last Order by Kwame Mbalia, and Under a Fire-Red Sky by Geraldine McCaughrean.

Lockhart.

Getting a free library card is easy. Call 270-237-3861 or visit us with a photo ID and recently postmarked mail. Once you have your card, a world of books, movies, and music will be at your fingertips. And remember, your voice matters.
