Allen County Public Library News – June 26, 2024

 The library will be closed for Independence Day on Thursday, July 4th. Unless it’s a holiday, the library building is open to the public Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Calling all crafters. Tinker Time in our Maker Space is open every Friday at 2:00 pm. Register online for help with your projects, or stop by to explore the space and ask questions. Equipment includes a Poster Printer, Embroider Machine, Cricut Vinyl Cutter, and more. Sign up today.

Adventure begins at your library, and we have special Summer Reading programs for children, teens, and adults. Did you know the average child loses two months of reading skills over the summer? You can help avoid the slide by registering your child for Summer Reading and encouraging your child to read for twenty minutes daily. We have thousands of books from which to choose, and kids who turn in their reading logs on time will earn gift cards to Sonic and Dairy Queen, thanks to the Friends of the Library.

Allen County Public Library News – June 12, 2024

Adventure begins at your library, and summer reading registration is open for children, teens, and adults. Everyone who signs up will have the chance to win prizes. Did you know the average child loses two months of reading skills over the summer? You can help avoid the slide by registering your child for Summer Reading and encouraging them to read for twenty minutes daily. We have thousands of books from which to choose. There’s something for everyone at the Allen County Public Library.

On Monday, June 17th, at 1:00 p.m., teens are invited to Ghost Adventures. The manager of Otagon Hall will present a program telling teens about the history of Octagon Hall and why he speculates some of the people who died on its grounds may still roam the Hall today.

On Tuesday, June 18th, at 1:00, kids are invited to Cave Adventures for a virtual tour of Mammoth Cave National Park. During the tour, park rangers will describe Mammoth Cave’s natural and human history.

Allen County Public Library News – June 5, 2024

The library building is open to the public on Monday through Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. – to 7:00 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. – to 4:00 p.m.

Our summer reading kickoff starts on First Friday, June 7, on the library’s front porch. Join us from 6-8 pm and register for Summer Reading. Adventure begins at your library, and we plan adventures for children, teens, and adults. On First Friday, kids can visit our photo booth, run the chalk obstacle course, join in a scavenger hunt, and more! Did you know the average child loses two months of reading skills over the summer? On Tuesday, June 11, at 1:00 pm, kids are invited to Science Adventures with Jason Lindsey @ Hooked On Science. Kids will enjoy learning about science as he shows off some amazing activities and experiments.

Thanks to our Friends of the Library, we’re giving prizes to kids who register for summer reading and turn in their reading log by Friday, July 23, 2024.
