Library News for October 26, 2016

Trick or Treat BorderThe Trick o’ Treat  Parade will start at the library courtyard at 10:00 am on Friday, October 28 at 10:00 pm. Children are invited to dress up and visit merchants for Trick o’ Treats around the square. A parent or guardian must accompany each child.

On Monday, October 31 at 5:00 pm, teens are invited to participate in the Zombie Apocalypse. Teens will transform into Zombies and terrorize the underground chambers of the library.  Brainfood and swamp water will be provided.

If you want to learn to knit or crochet, Loose Ends will teach you. They meet every Tuesday at 3:30. Supplies are provided for beginners.

Library News for September 28

AdobeStock_94192789Fall Break week is full of great programs for kids of all ages. On Monday, October 3 we’ll offer two youth painting classes: at 10:00 a.m. we’ll host kids ages 10 and under, at 1:00 pm, students older than 10 are are invited. On Wednesday, October 5 at 1:00 pm we’ll decorate pumkins with Ms. Pam (kids of all ages), on Thursday, October 6 at 1:00 pm we’ll offer Board Games & More with Ms. Amanda, on Thursday, October 6 at 5:00 pm we’ll have a Perler Beads Craft for teens, and on Friday, October 7 at 1:00 pm we’ll have “Fear Factor” with Ms. Dee for tweens & teens. We hope all students have a wonderful and safe Fall vacation.

The Scottsville Art Guild will offer an acrylic class for adults on Saturday, October 1st at 10:00 am. Supplies will be provided for this free workshop, but you must pre-register to attend.  On Saturday, October 8 at 10:00 a.m., we’ll offer and adult class on twig sculpture with Ms. Jamie.

New patrons who sign up during the month of September are eligible to participate. Stop by the library with a photo I.D. and a recently postmarked piece of mail to get your free library card.

WE ARE ONE!  The Allen County Pubic Library and school libraries have united which allows students in the Allen County School System to have access to tons of great resources.  Since its launch, over 3,000 students will receive benefits from the merge.  All students will have access to digital resources to aid in their school work.  100+ teachers will be able to use digital services at no additional cost.  Better resources equal better learning for your child.  This conversion includes subscription to 50+ online magazines, downloadable books & audio through OverDrive & OneClickDigital, Consumer Reports, free homework help with Tutor.com, free online classes, WorldBook Encyclopedia, Ancestry.com, Kentucky Virtual Library, Test & Ed. Library News for July 27

Summer reading is over and I want to say a big thank you to Ms. fit_bit3Amanda and Ms. Delonda for making it our most successful summer reading program ever.  We had 309 and children register, 452 kids attended, with 286 parents and guardians.
Congratulations to Shane Kendall, Gavin Scott, Maelyn Witt, Timothy Spearman and Kaylea Biggs. These kids won the drawings for fit bits. Every child who attended the last program was allowed to take home a free book and the 128 kids who turned in reading logs won other prizes. fit_bit_1Thanks to the Friends of the Library, we had many prize giveaways.  Thanks to all the parents and guardians who took time from their busy schedule to bring children to the library this summer.fit_bit2
