Allen County Public Library – News for August 12, 2026

We were thrilled to welcome 84 visitors during the Mini-Library’s first month of operation! The library invites everyone to join us, along with the Allen County Historical Society, on Monday, August 17, at 6:00 p.m. for a special presentation from the Kentucky Humanities Speakers Bureau. Before there was Minnie Pearl, there was Cousin Emmy. Discover the remarkable story of this legendary Kentucky pioneer through an engaging portrayal of her life, music, and lasting legacy right here close to home. Light refreshments will be provided courtesy of the Allen County Historical Society.

Books on the Square Book Club will meet at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18, to discuss this month’s selection, The Story She Left Behind by Patti Callahan Henry. Allen County Public Library – News for August 5, 2026

Regular children’s programming will resume in September. Until then, adults are invited to join Strings ‘n Things every Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. to learn new knitting and crochet techniques while completing fun projects.

We also have two wonderful book clubs that meet on the third Tuesday of each month. Books on the Square Book Club will meet Tuesday, August 18, at 1:00 p.m. to discuss The Story She Left Behind by Patti Callahan Henry. Later that evening at 5:00 p.m., Mystery at the Library Book Club will discuss The Vacation by T.M. Logan. Stop by the library today to pick up a copy of either title and join us for great conversation and tasty treats.
