The annual Trick-or-Treat parade is scheduled for Friday, October 31 at 10:00 am. Children must have a responsible adult join them on the parade route as we visit our downtown merchants in costume.

On November 8, from 1:00 – 3:00 pm, the Scottville Art Guild will offer Drawing Your Pet at the library. No experience is needed. Please bring a photo (preferably a head shot) of your pet. Space is limited to 12 participants so register early.

Is your child Kindergarten Ready. We have a new program geared to help children who will start Kindergarten in August 2015. Families will learn basic skills and concepts for which educators will be screening. We’ll offer a light meal at 5:00 pm and the program starts at 5:30 pm. Space is limited to 10 families so sign up today by calling 237-3861.

On Saturday, November 15 at 10:00 am, Beth Hester will present a program on Kentucky Basket Traditions and participants will make a woven Christmas ornament. This free program is limited to 30 participants.  Sign up today by calling 237-3861.

We offer homework help through “Tutor.com.” Library patrons have access to on-demand, one-to-one Academic and Career Tutoring from 4:00 pm – 11:00 am, seven days per week. All you need is a library card.  Tutor.com covers 25+ subject areas, including AP/IB, Spanish language support and Test-Prep.

Brian Karas.

New books on the adult fiction shelf include: The Christmas Wedding Ring by Susan Mallery, Gray Mountain by John Grisham, Snowfall by Shelley Shepard Gray, The Patmos Deception by Davis Bunn, Beautiful You by Chuck Palahniuk, Desert God by Wilbur Smith, and  A Place Called Hope by Philip Gulley.

New movies this week include: Snow Piercer starring Chris Evans and Song Kango Ho, Wrong Turn 6: Last Resort starring Anthony Lott, The Purge Anarchy starring James DeMonico, Mercy starring Shirley Knight, See No Evil 2 starring Danielle Harris, The Fluffy Movie starring Manny Rodriguez, Earth to Echo starring Teo Halm, X-Men: Days of Future Past starring Hugh Jackman and James McAvoy, VeggieTales: Beauty and the Beet, and Mr. Peabody & Sherman.

These are a few of the new selections available at your Allen County Public Library.   To borrow books, movies or music from the library, simply get a library card. Library cards are free.  You need a photo I.D. and a recently postmarked piece of mail.  If there’s a special book, movie, or music artist you would like to see offered, please let us know.
