Did you know the average child loses two months of reading skills over the summer? You can help avoid the slide by registering your child for Summer Reading and encouraging your child to read for twenty minutes daily. We have thousands of books from which to choose. There’s something for everyone at the Allen County Public Library.

This year’s summer reading theme is All Together Now! We have special programs and prizes for every age group. Our summer reading kick-off event begins on Friday, June 2, at 6:00 pm on the library’s front porch. Families can register for the summer reading, fish for prizes, throw a water balloon at a librarian and complete the chalk obstacle course.

For a complete list of all programs available, visit and click on the events tab. You can register in the library or online via our Facebook page. Just complete the correct Google Form. There’s one for adults, teens, and children. . We’ll also provide a free lunch to kids attending Tuesday library programs during summer reading.
