Allen County Public Library News – August 16, 2023

The library building is open to the public on Monday through Thursday, 9:00 am – 7:00 pm, and Friday and Saturday from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm.

If you’d like to learn to knit or crochet, join us for Strings’ n Things on Wednesdays at 2:30. We’ll provide new participants with a starter kit. All you need to do is register for the program under our events tab and show up.

All school-age children are invited to Lego My Library on Saturday, August 19, at 11:00. Ms. Abby will have a fun build challenge. Don’t forget to register for this free event under our events tab.

Teens are invited to learn a new art technique called Balloon Kiss Pour Paint on Monday, August 23, at 5:00 pm. As space and supplies are limited, pre-registration is required.

On Friday, August 25, at 10:00 am, adults are invited to learn how to make a Hypertufa pot. Hpertufa is a lightweight, porous material used in craft projects. It is made from a mixture of peat moss, cement, and either sand, vermiculite, or perlite. After mixing the ingredients, they are molded into shape and allowed to dry. Pre-registration is required as supplies are limited.

To get a free library card, call 270-237-3861 or stop by the library with a photo I.D. and a recently postmarked piece of mail. Then you’ll be able to check out or download library materials. Also, please let us know if there’s a particular book, movie, or music artist you would like added to the collection. We’ll do our best to fulfill your requests.
