Allen County Public Library News – January 25, 2023

The library building is open to the public on Monday through Thursday, 9:00 am – 7:00 pm, and Friday and Saturday from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm.

Toddlers are invited to Toddler Time on Wednesdays at 10:00 am. Parents/guardians may choose from three Pre-K Story Hours for their preschool-age child. We’ll offer the same program on Tuesday and  Thursday at 10:00 am and on Wednesdays at 1:00 pm. Call 270-237-3861 to reserve your child’s place. On Tuesday at 1:00 pm, Home-School children ages 5-12 are invited to enrichment programs. On Thursdays at 2:00 pm, Home-School teens are invited to enrichment programs. We hope you’ll make visiting the library a part of your weekly routine.

If you are homebound, we are happy to make non-contact home deliveries. Call Ms. Delonda at 270-237-3861 if you need this service.

Prime Time Family Reading is a six-week reading, discussion, and storytelling program that starts on Thursday, February 2, 2023. We’ll serve a light meal at 5:00 pm, and at 5:30 pm, a university scholar (discussion leader) and a storyteller will conduct weekly storytelling and discussion sessions based on award-winning children’s picture books. Participants are elementary-age children and their families. Childcare will be provided for infants and toddlers. Families can register for this free program at www.allencountylibrary.com under the events tab or call 270-237-3861. Space is limited to fifteen families. The Kentucky Humanities Council and the Allen County Public Library provided funds for this program.

New large-print books for adults include: Targeted by Lynette Eason, Lynn H. Blackburn, and Natalie Walters, Her Heart’s Desire by Shelley Shepard Gray, The Brilliance of Stars by J’nell Ciesielski, Code 6 by James Grippando, Without a Trace by Danielle Steel,  and The Backup Plan by Jill Shalvis.

New books on the adult fiction shelf include: Come From Away by Genevieve Graham, The Seamstress of Sardinia by Bianca Pitzorno, I Must Betray You by Ruta Sepetys, The Dressmakers of Prospect Heights by Kitty Zeldis, The House of Wolves: Murder Runs in the Family by James Patterson and Mike Lupica, Nettle and Bone by T Kingfisher, The House at the End of the World by Dean Koontz, The Bullet Garden by Stephen Hunter, and Blush by Helen Hardt.

To get a free library card, call 270-237-3861 or stop by the library with a photo I.D. and a recently postmarked piece of mail. Then you’ll be able to check out or download library materials. Also, if there’s a particular book, movie, or music artist you would like added to the collection, please let us know. We’ll do our best to fulfill your requests.
