Allen County Public Library – News for August 5, 2026

The library is open to the public Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. While you’re out and about, be sure to visit our Mini-Library at 1 Cedar Springs Road in Scottsville, where you can browse books, exchange puzzles, and enjoy free Wi-Fi. Our digital library is also available 24/7, giving patrons access to free e-books, audiobooks, and television shows with an active library card. Simply download the Libby and Hoopla apps to explore thousands of titles anytime.

Regular children’s programming will resume in September. Until then, adults are invited to join Strings ‘n Things every Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. to learn new knitting and crochet techniques while completing fun projects.

We also have two wonderful book clubs that meet on the third Tuesday of each month. Books on the Square Book Club will meet Tuesday, August 18, at 1:00 p.m. to discuss The Story She Left Behind by Patti Callahan Henry. Later that evening at 5:00 p.m., Mystery at the Library Book Club will discuss The Vacation by T.M. Logan. Stop by the library today to pick up a copy of either title and join us for great conversation and tasty treats.

We encourage all library supporters to become a Friend of the Allen County Public Library. Friends of the Library President Gayle Davis is happy to answer questions about the organization and how it advocates for our library. We would also like to thank the Friends of the Library for their generous $1,000 contribution to this year’s Summer Reading Program. Members assist with library events, advocacy efforts, and the annual book sale—and best of all, membership is free! Stop by the library today to pick up an application.
