Allen County Public Library – News for August 12, 2026

The library is open to the public Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Mini-Library at Cedar Springs #1 is also open during normal library hours. We were thrilled to welcome 84 visitors during the Mini-Library’s first month of operation! Our digital library is available 24/7, giving patrons access to free e-books, audiobooks, and television shows with an active library card. Simply download the Libby and Hoopla apps to explore thousands of titles anytime.

The library invites everyone to join us, along with the Allen County Historical Society, on Monday, August 17, at 6:00 p.m. for a special presentation from the Kentucky Humanities Speakers Bureau. Before there was Minnie Pearl, there was Cousin Emmy. Discover the remarkable story of this legendary Kentucky pioneer through an engaging portrayal of her life, music, and lasting legacy right here close to home. Light refreshments will be provided courtesy of the Allen County Historical Society.

Books on the Square Book Club will meet at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18, to discuss this month’s selection, The Story She Left Behind by Patti Callahan Henry. Stop by the library today to pick up a copy! Later that evening at 5:00 p.m., mystery lovers are invited to join There’s a Mystery at the Library Book Club as they discuss The Vacation by T.M. Logan.
